Resident Evil Director's Cut

As we and others in the gaming news biz pointed out once or twice, a slew of original PS1 hits — including Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil: Director’s Cut — are rumored to be coming Stateside soon. Thankfully, this is one of those lovely moments when I can say that we were (mostly, at this time anyway) right.

Resident Evil: Director’s Cut hits the PlayStation Network in North America on Thursday, May 28. This extended edition of the first Resident Evil experience will cost you $9.99 and a little download time. But oh my, folks, the cost is most definitely worth it.

If you’re wondering OK, so you say it’s worth it — why? Well, curious reader, because you’ll get the definitive version of the PlayStation 1 classic. The main game is largely the same, but you’ll get random camera angles (which differ from those in the original version), new costumes, and… OK, so there’s not much else that’s truly different. But hey, you can use analog control in this version.
